Job Description

Teachers will engage in teaching and curriculum construction at Jishou University.

Requirements

Candidates should

Be friendly and understanding of the Chinese culture,

Abide by Chinese laws and regulations,

Be in good health and do not possesscriminal record.

Additionally candidates should

1. Be a native speaker of English and be acitizen of the U.S.A，U.K.，Canada，Australia，or New Zealand(not for bilingual teachers and subject teachers).

2. Possess a teacher's qualificationcertificate valid from one of the above mentioned countries or， an EnglishLanguage Teaching Certificate, such as TEFL/TESL/TESOL/TKT/CELTA etc.

3. Bachelor degree or above, and two yearsworking experiences.

4. Under 60 years old (Age limitation isnot applicable to very experienced teacher).

Responsibilities

1. Language teaching including listening,speaking, reading and writing, and culture sharing.

2. Curriculum construction.

3. Participation in teaching and researchactivities.

4. 18 hours teaching per week.

Salary and Benefits

1. 8,000 RMB/month(pre-tax).

2. Subsidy for international air fare: around-way travel to and from the home country only for economic class for aone-year contract, a one-way travel to or from the home country only foreconomic class for a one-semester contract.

Application

1. Deadline: 1) For Spring semester,January 15^th for overseas applicants; February 15th for domesticapplicants.

 2) For Fall semester, July15th for overseas applicants; August 10thfor domestic applicants.

 3)Start working in late Februaryor March for Spring semester and September 1st for Fall semester.

2. Application Materials: CV, photocopy ofpassport，degree and TEFL/TESL/TESOL/TKT/CELTA certificate for an interview.

3. A notarized certificate of no criminalrecord is required for visa application, preferred to obtain it in advance.

1. How about accommodation assistance?

Jishou University provides free on-campushousing and supply basic furniture.

2. How long does the entry process forChina take?

Normally, on the basis of all requesteddocument prepared, it takes about 2 months.

3. How do I get a certificate of nocriminal record?

You could ask the local police station orjudicial organizations for it. The document should be signed or stamped by thepolice station or judicial organizations. Otherwise, the document should benotarized by an embassy or consulate of P. R. China.

4. How does contract signing occur?

The contract should be signed by twoparties, Jishou University and the language teacher. At first, the contractwill be scanned and emailed to the teacher to be signed before they enterChina. After they arrive in China, a formal contract will be signed.

This contract will be kept by Jishou Universityand the language teacher.

5. How to apply for reimbursement ofinternational flight tickets?

The first flight you take to China shouldbe paid by yourself. You can apply for reimbursement of a round-trip ticket ifyou work for two semesters and a one-way ticket if you work for one semester.

6. How old are the students?

Normally, the students are from 18 yearsold to 25 years old.

8. Airports and pickup

There are two airports close to our Zhangjiajieand Jishou campuses. Zhangjiajie airport(DYG) is about 20 minutes toZhangjiajie campus, and about 150 minutes to Jishou campus. Tongrenairport(TEN) is about 60 minutes to Jishou campus. Both of them have connectingflights to Beijing, Guangzhou, Kunming, Chengdu and Shanghai.

9. Train transportation

You can take ordinary train to Jishou trainstation which is 10 minutes to Jishou Campus and take ordinary train toZhangjiajie train station which is 10 minutes to Zhangjiajie Campus. You canalso take high-speed rail to Huaihua Nan station which is 80 minutes to JishouCampus.

There are trains directly to Beijing, Shanghai,Shenzhen, Kunming, Chongqing,Nanning, Guiyang Guangzhou from Jishou RailwayStation or Zhangjiajie Railway Staion every day.

10. Weather

The weather in Jishou and Zhangjiajierespond to a humid subtropical climate pattern, and thanks to the mountains,neither summer nor winter are particularly extreme. July and August are thehottest months, with average highs of 32°C (90°F). At the opposite end, Januaryis the coldest month, with average lows of 3°C (37°F).

11.Physical Examination

Physical Examination should be done in theEntry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine after you entry the mainland of China. It’spreferred if you can finish the physical examination and before come to the University.

12. Residence Permit

We can assist you to apply for yourresidence permit with your physical examination, foreign expert certificate andcontract within 1 month.
